Teaching through Hopi philosophy, values, and methods

Hopitutuqaiki is dedicated to developing an educational process derived from Hopi cultural philosophy, values, and methods. Always before, Hopi students were taught in schools using values, philosophy, and methods designed for and derived from an outside culture.

While this effort is not unique, there are very few schools working with Native American students that use the student's own culture, values, background, and strengths as the basis for the school, the curriculum, and the educational process.

Many classes are in the summer, but there are also Fall and Spring Classes. We are working toward a year-round presence.

Many educational materials in local languages are often out of date. We work with school leaders and publishers to ensure that students have access to current textbooks that are age appropriate and written in their primary language.

Continuing Education for Teachers

Education happens within the context of a larger community. Our approach extends beyond the school to help ensure students have the necessary support to do their best learning.

We create customized continuing education programs to address the needs of teachers and their student communities. From training on the latest technology to new pedagogical methods, we help teachers make their classrooms engaging and successful.
